Indigenous Graduate Research Scholarship

This scholarship is provided by the University of Tasmania.

Eligibility

Available to a student who will be undertaking a full-time research masters degree or doctorate in 2010 and who holds (or will obtain in 2009) at least an upper second-class honours degree. In addition, applicants must be Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people who meet the Commonwealth three-tiered criteria for Aboriginality. This requires that an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person: is of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent; and identifies as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander; and is accepted as such by the community in which he or she lives or has lived.

Amount

Equal to that of the Australian Postgraduate Awards (currently $20,427 per year). A relocation allowance may also be included.

Duration

Up to two years for a research masters degree, up to three years for a doctorate.
