Jim Bacon Memorial Scholarship
The Jim Bacon Memorial Scholarship provides three annual scholarships for UTAS students studying in the areas of fine arts, political science and the care and treatment of cancer. The Jim Bacon Memorial Scholarship was formed in memory of Jim Bacon who was diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer and his untimely death in June 2004.
Eligibility
Available to honours or postgraduate students studying in fine arts, political science and the care and treatment of cancer. The scholarships will be awarded to students whose study is in areas which has practical application or benefit for Tasmanians or who seek to promote issues which are important to Tasmanians. The selection panel will give preference to students for whom the financial assistance will make a difference in the successful completion of their studies. While the student's academic achievement is important and will be considered, the scholarships are not provided just for outstanding academic achievement.
On-going Eligibility
To retain this award, recipients are required to achieve a minimum Pass result in all units studied each semester.
