Payment Arrangements in Exceptional Circumstances

All International students are required to pay their tuition fees by the due date specified on their invoice and as per the Payment Options for International Students.

Upon application by the student the University may extend a student’s fee due date in exceptional circumstances.  Applications are assessed by the Fees Collection Committee (International) and students are advised of the outcome of their application by email.

Applications for payment arrangement in exceptional circumstances will only be accepted for Semester 1 and Semester 2.  Applications are not accepted for non-standard semesters (Summer, Winter and Spring School).

 

Criteria

To apply for a payment extension you must meet all of the following criteria:

  • the circumstances occurred prior to the first due date or second due date, and
  • the circumstances were outside your control, and
  • you are able to supply supporting documentation, eg medical certificate, and
  • you are currently enrolled.

 

How to apply

Application

To apply for a payment extension you must submit a letter (there is not an application form) detailing ALL of the following information:

o Your student ID number
o Your full name
o The reason(s) for your payment extension request e.g. medical, change of employment situation, delay of student loan etc
o The date you are requesting an extension until
o The amount you are required to pay
o You MUST also enclose relevant supporting documentation eg medical certificate, employment records, student loan documentation etc

Note: Incomplete applications will not be assessed

Applications may be posted, sent by email to Fees.Unit@utas.edu.au or hand delivered to the Student Centre.

Application due dates

Applications must be received prior to the first or second due date respectively.

If you are requesting an extension for 50% payment you must submit your application by the first due date.
If you are requesting an extension for the balance of payment you must submit your application by the second due date.

Outcome of application

You will receive an email confirming receipt of your application within 3 working days of submission.

Requests for payment arrangements in exceptional circumstances will normally be assessed by the Fees Collection Committee (International) within 10 working days of submission of the application.

You will be advised of the outcome of your request by email within 3 working days of the decision.

Consideration will be given according to your current circumstances as well as your previous payment record.

 

Debarral

Students approved for special payment arrangements by the Fees Collection Committee (International) will be debarred until all fees outstanding are paid.

The debarral will

  • block access to all final results across your full enrolment record
  • block production of an Academic Transcript and
  • prevent you from graduating

The debarral will only be lifted on receipt of the full outstanding amount.
