If you have been asked to provide a statement in support of your application, it is because the Admissions Office requires information that will assist in the assessment of your application for admission to UTAS. Please be aware that until your statement has been received by the Admissions Office, the assessment of your application will not be finalised.

UNDERGRADUATE APPLICANTS
Your supporting statement must provide evidence of your capacity to succeed at tertiary study and address the relevant sections listed below. You may attach a CV or Resume to answer the sections on Academic and Employment Background.
Academic Background

Include details of your educational background not provided in your application for admission – e.g. professional development courses, first aid qualifications or other vocational education. Include details of all courses whether they are in similar or different areas to the course you have applied for, and whether or not they have been completed.

If you have unsuccessfully attempted university study, please provide a brief statement detailing the reasons why you wish to recommence study. If you have ever been excluded from a course or institution, it will be necessary for you to provide a re-admission statement which explains the circumstances surrounding your academic history, your activities since the exclusion and the plans you have put in place to prevent a recurrence.
Employment Background
Knowledge & Skills

Describe the practical skills you have gained through experience or study in a particular field. This does not have to be related to the course you have applied for, and may include community work, voluntary service or hobbies.

Provide information about any specialist knowledge you have developed through experience or study in a particular field.

Describe your communication and interpersonal skills and how they may assist you in your studies.
Demonstrated Interest

Explain your interest in undertaking the course you are applying for, and how this interest developed.

Explain how you have prepared for university, and your career plans and goals on completion of the course.
Equity or Special Consideration (if relevant to you)

Please provide concise details of any factors or circumstances which you feel may have limited your opportunities for education or access to a university, such as restricted educational opportunity, disability or health conditions.
READMISSION STATEMENT
If you have ever been excluded from a course or institution, you are required to provide a statement which explains the circumstances surrounding your academic history, the activities you have undertaken since your exclusion, and the plans you have put in place to prevent a recurrence.
POSTGRADUATE APPLICANTS
Postgraduate applicants are required to provide a brief statement outlining their interest in undertaking the course of study being applied for. A statement is not required for applicants to Honours programs, the Master of Architecture, Master of Education or Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice who have completed the relevant undergraduate studies at UTAS.
